Sohini Basak
(English, Poetry, Fiction) Sohini is a writer and editor from India. Her first poetry collection We Live in the Newness of Small Differences was awarded the inaugural International Beverly Manuscript Prize in 2018. In 2017, she received a Toto Funds the Arts writing award. She studied at the universities of Delhi and Warwick, and at East Anglia, where she received the 2015 Malcolm Bradbury Grant.
Chandni Doulatramani
(English, Non-fiction) Chandni is an independent journalist and writer with bylines in The Guardian, Foreign Policy, Al Jazeera, Slate, The Caravan and several other foreign and Indian publications. She recently completed an MA in Journalism at Goldsmiths, University of London, where she was a Commonwealth Scholar. She is also Director at Amnesty International India. She lives between Calcutta and Bangalore and is working on her first nonfiction book.
Laura Freudenthaler
(German, Fiction) Laura Freudenthaler was born in Salzburg and lives in Vienna. Her collection of stories, Der Schädel der Madeleine, was published in 2014. Her novel, Die Königin Schweigt, won the Förderpreis zum Bremer Literaturpreis in 2018 and was recommended as best German debut at the Festival du Premier Roman 2018 in Chambéry. In 2019, she published her second novel Geistergeschichte and was awarded the European Union Prize for Literature. Her work has been translated into 17 languages.
E Santhosh Kumar
(Malayalam, Fiction) E Santhosh Kumar has published more than 20 books including novels, short story collections, children’s literature and essays. He has won various literary prizes including Kerala Sahitya Academy awards for a short story collection (2006), a novel (2012), and a children’s book (2010); he also won a Kerala State Film Award (2017). His works have been translated to English, Tamil, Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali and German. Kumar was shortlisted for a Crossword Prize in 2016. He worked for National Insurance for 30 years and lives in Thrissur, Kerala. He enjoys films and travelling.
Suneela Mubayi
(English/Urdu/Arabic, Translation, Fiction) Suneela Mubayi, writer, independent scholar and translator, earned her Ph.D. in Arabic literature at NYU where she completed a thesis on vagabond poets between classical and modern Arabic poetry, and taught Arabic literature at Cambridge University in 2019-20 and was the joint recipient of a translation fellowship from the National Endowment of the Arts for the travelogue of nahda polymath Ahmad Faris al-Shidyaq. She has written on platforms such as al-Jumhuriya and Ashkal Alwan and translated close to 100 essays, poems and pieces of fiction between Arabic, English, and Urdu, which have been published in Banipal, Words Without Borders, Asymptote, Jadaliyya, Mada Masr and elsewhere.
Kavery Nambisan
(English, Fiction, Non-Fiction) Kavery was born in Kodagu district, Karnataka, and graduated from St John’s Medical College, Bangalore. She trained further in surgery in the UK. Thereafter, she pursued a career in surgery in rural India. She has written seven novels and one non-fiction work (a medical memoir). She attended the International Writing Fellowship Programme in Iowa in 2007, she has been Writer-in-Residence at Shanghai and a Visiting Writer in Karachi and Lahore in 2015. She was married to poet and writer Vijay Nambisan who passed away in 2017. Kavery works at her own clinic in Ponnampet and is finishing her next novel, Rising Sons.
Azhagu Nila
(Tamil, Various Genres) Nila is the author of Oranju , Sirukattu Chunai , Sang Kancil, and Mozhivazhi Kanavu which won the Singapore Literature Prize, 2022. She has also written for young readers – Kondama Kendama , Melissavum Merlionum, Melissavum Japaniya Moothatiyum, and Pa Ang Bao which won the ‘Beyond Words’ competition by Singapore Book Council in 2015. Her other works include two e-books, Vasipenum Vaanam and Thotra Kavithaigal. Her stories have been made into digital comics Kathaineram for the Tamil Youth Festival 2021. She holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering.
Nandini Oza
(English and Marathi, Oral History) Nandini has been an activist with the Narmada Bachao Andolan. Her previous book, Whither Justice – Stories of Women in Prison is available in English and Marathi. Oral Histories of the Narmada Struggle, recorded by her, can be accessed through her website. Nandini was a resident writer of Sangam House in 2017.

Ranbir Sidhu
(English, Fiction and Non-fiction) Ranbir Sidhu is the author of five books, including Dark Star, Deep Singh Blue and Good Indian Girls. He is a winner of a Pushcart Prize and a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, among other awards. His fiction and non-fiction appears widely, including in Conjunctions, The Georgia Review, Fence, Zyzzyva, The Missouri Review, Other Voices, The Happy Hypocrite, The Literary Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, Vice and The Nation. His essay for Salon was selected as a Notable Essay in Best American Essays 2016, edited by Jonathan Franzen. He lives in Athens, Greece.
Purnima Tammireddy
(Telugu/English, Translation, Fiction and Non-Fiction) Purnima Tammireddy is a fiction writer, translator, book reviewer and publisher, primarily working in Telugu. She co-founded pustakam.net, a website for book reviews and was associated with this project for 14 years. She is also involved with Manto in Telugu, a digital project to bring Sadat Hasan Manto, the writer, closer to Telugu readers. Elami Publications, which she co-founded in 2022, has published her first translations of Manto, Siya Hashiye. A collection of her short stories is forthcoming. She is a software engineer by profession and a trained Kerala Mural artist.
