Lekhana is committed to bringing together the diverse literary worlds that the city holds within itself, worlds that rarely have a chance to interact with each other, to speak to or listen to one another.
Lekhana (which means ‘writing’ in many Indian languages) is the Sangam House literary weekend that brings Bangalore writers together to read and talk about their work. Lekhana is scheduled during the Sangam House season so that our resident writers can interact with local literary communities and share their work with a larger public. The Lekhana weekend includes writing in many languages and genres and consists of readings and panel discussions on literary topics.
Our gatherings are free and open to all.
Lekhana has partnered with The Jamun, Out of Print Magazine, Bhoomija, Toto Funds the Arts, Deshakaala and PEN International.
Lekhana has been supported by such venues as Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS), Champaca Bookstore, Jagriti Theatre and the National Gallery for Modern Art (Bangalore).
Atta Galatta is the Lekhana book store and also provides refreshments at the venue each year.
