Arshia Sattar
Arshia Sattar
has a Ph.D. in classical Indian literatures from
the Department of South Asian Languages and
Civilizations at the University of Chicago. Her
translations from Sanskrit of story literatures,
Tales from the Kathasaritsagara
and the epic The Ramayana of
Valmiki have been published by Penguin
Books. Her children’s book, Kishkinda Tails
was published in 2007.
She is a story consultant for Usborne Publishing
in the UK. She is currently working on a series
of essays on the Ramayana to be published
by Penguin India in 2008 and editing a
collection of plays translated from Indian
languages into English. Arshia has written
extensively on books and literature for various
Indian and international publications. She
currently teaches Indian literatures for the
South Asian Studies undergraduate program at the
University of Chicago and for Earlham College.
She was also founding faculty at the Mahindra
United World College of India where she designed
and taught a course in Indian Studies for the
International Baccalaureate Diploma.

DW Gibson
DW Gibson
currently serves as Executive Director of the
Ledig House International Writer’s Colony in
Hudson, New York, which is part of the Art Omi
International Arts Center. His work has been published in various literary journals and magazines
including Oxford Magazine, Atlas, Tin House, and Alaska
Quarterly. His children’s novel, FUNDORADO ISLAND, was
published by Random House in 2006. His novel for adult readers will be published in 2010.
He spent some time working on
documentaries for PBS, A&E Television Network,
and MSNBC. His credits include “The Hate Network” and “Inside Alcoholics
Anonymous”. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree
in English Literature from the University of
Texas where he studied with Booker Award winner
James Kelman and playwright Sherry Kramer.
